BIOGRAPHY
Professional:
|
Born and raised in Atlantic County, I
graduated from Atlantic City High School. I earned a
Bachelor’s of Education degree from the University of Miami, a
Master’s of Arts from Northern Arizona University, and a
Doctorate in Education from Western Colorado University. I
was the first board member in EHT history to complete
courses as a Certified Board Member, and I am awaiting final
approval of Master Board Member standing. |
|
I opened the Atlantic County Vocational
School and was Apprentice Coordinator/Evening Supervisor for
ten years. I went to the State of New Jersey Department of
Education followed by a stay at the Cape May County
Vocational School. I retired from EHT High School after
fourteen years as Supervisor of Consumer Sciences,
Industrial Arts, Art, and Music and taught Electricity and
Electronics. I have been on the Board of Education for the
past six years. |
|
My tenure on the Board of Education has
proved to the public that I am a highly trained, hard
working individual who has the time and energy to do a job
correctly. As Chairman of the Buildings and Grounds
Committee for the past three years, I have demonstrated my
ability to meet with contractors and lawyers to work out
details of contracts and open schools in a timely manner.
My training as a board member has helped me to perform my
duties in a professional manner. |
Family:
I Moved
to EHT in 1973. Soon after, I became a single parent,
raising three children, all who attended EHT schools. I
was then blessed to meet my Wife Robin at Cape May
County Vo-Tech. We married fifteen years ago when my
youngest Son Andy left the nest to venture out on his
own. Andy is now a Union Carpenter living in
Virginia. My oldest Son Woody is a Union Electrician
living in Ohio, and my Daughter Debbie is a Masters
Level Occupational Therapist living in Wisconsin. Robin
and I have been further blessed with seven grandsons,
ages six months to nineteen years.

COMMUNITY:

The forced
growth in
Egg Harbor
Township has
demanded a
new school
every two
years. The
growth is
continuing,
and the need
for new
buildings is
evident.
The need to
have “Cookie
Cutter”,
“Plain
Design”
schools has
become my
mantra. We
need space,
not a show
place.
To save the
tax payers'
funds, we
are
transferring the Central
Office staff
from West
Atlantic
City to the
two, new
elementary
schools.
The money
spent for
schools is
being used
efficiently
and afford us
"the best
bang for the
buck." We
are
currently
exploring
outside
sources for
additional
funds from
businesses,
including
the Casino
Industry.
We encourage
the public
and
industry,
both , to
join us in
our endeavor
to search for
outside
sources of
funds to
help build
and operate our
schools. |
|
In addition
to the
mandated
curriculum,
I think
optional courses in
foreign
languages
could be
considered.
Our student
population
is represented
by
over
seventy-five
countries,
and many of
the
languages
they speak
could be
added to our
curriculum.
In addition,
there are
hundreds of
Township
youths
participating
in
popular
sports
programs,
such as Lacrosse.
I fully
support the
forming of
"clubs" for
these
popular
sports,
which may
enable us to
qualify for
funding in
the future.
